ACT Recycling reprocesses concrete, asphalt, bricks, ceramics, roof tiles, rock, topsoil, mixed concrete, clean fill, dirty fill, timber, mixed construction and demolition waste and green waste.
During three years of operation ACT Recycling has diverted significant quantities of materials from landfill. These results are expected to improve as ACT Recycling develops new equipment and processes.
ACT Recycling has developed strong ties with the local community through initiatives such as the recruiting and training of locals for skilled positions. Efforts in this area extend to the recruitment and training of seventeen long-term unemployed, along with instilling a recycling ethic in all staff through educating about the impacts of not recycling and what can be achieved through the implementation of effective recycling systems. This initiative demonstrates ACT Recycling’s interest in taking its operations beyond a pure business focus to recognising and promoting the greater social good that can be gained from resource recovery.
